River Avenue Blues is reporting that Alan Horne has been released. Kevin Russo and Whelan are back at AAA. Shane Green and DeAngelo Mack have been placed on the DL. We signed Francisco Cruceta and Jamie Mallard, who is 6'0, 265 lbs. Huge. Most importantly, Zoilo Almonte has been promoted to Trenton in place of Cody Johnson. I argued against doing this in a previous post to give him some momentum headed into next season. Hopefully he shines. Maybe they want to show Colorado we have an OF bat that isn't so far from the majors?
I'm hoping Shane Brown takes Zoilo's place in high A. We've got nothing to lose by sending him there, and I honestly don't feel any of the OF in Low A are ready to move up. His age makes it such that he has to move quickly or will likely never provide value for us.
